The machines that do the work

Nothing here is brokered out. The press, the roll printer, both flat-beds and the laser sit on one floor in Ambattur, which is why a sign can be printed and cut to shape without leaving the building — and why we can tell you what a change to your artwork costs in time before you approve it.

Five machines, and what each one is for

Which machine a job runs on decides its price, its turnaround and what it can be printed on. Here is the plain version of that choice.

Canon imagePRESS V700 on the Impression floor
Short runs & personalised work

Canon imagePRESS V700

Toner rather than plates, so the first sheet off it is already the good sheet. Seventy pages a minute at 2400 dpi, on stock from 52 up to 350gsm, and every single copy free to differ — a name, a number, a QR code. Proofs for the bigger jobs come off it too, which means artwork gets signed off on the same press that will print it.

Epson XP600 roll-to-roll printer on the Impression floor
Wide format, on the roll

Epson XP600 roll-to-roll printer

Six feet of print width running off a roll instead of a sheet, so the length of a banner is decided by the job and not by the machine. Eco-solvent ink bites into flex and vinyl rather than sitting on top of them, which is what keeps a hoarding legible after a season of Chennai sun and rain.

Taimes UV flat-bed · 8 × 4 on the Impression floor
Rigid sheets, at full size

Taimes UV flat-bed · 8 × 4

A bed that takes a full standard sheet of acrylic, ACP or sunboard and prints it in one pass, with no join down the middle to explain away. UV lamps cure each pass as the gantry clears it, so the ink is dry and scratch-resistant coming off the bed and the panel can go up the same afternoon.

PixelJet UV flat-bed · 4 × 3 on the Impression floor
Rigid & direct-to-object

PixelJet UV flat-bed · 4 × 3

The smaller bed, and the one that takes the fiddly work: a single award, a run of fifty coasters, a nameplate that has to match a nameplate from two years ago. A white layer goes down first, so a photograph holds its colour on clear acrylic, dark wood or brushed metal instead of sinking into whatever is behind it.

Ink
UV-cured, CMYK + white

Mehta CO₂ laser · 4 × 4 on the Impression floor
Cutting, engraving & shaping

Mehta CO₂ laser · 4 × 4

What turns a printed rectangle into the thing you actually ordered. The beam cuts acrylic up to 20 mm and leaves a flame-polished edge that needs no sanding, and it engraves the same materials it cuts — so a shaped sign, a keychain and the lettering on an award all come off one bed.
